Master Doula

Having training in social work, mental health therapy, and as a certified doula is unique because it offers a comprehensive approach to care that spans emotional, psychological, and physical support. Social work training provides a deep understanding of societal systems, advocacy, and resources, enabling me to have a holistic view of a person’s environment and challenges. Mental health therapy training equips me with the tools to address complex emotional and psychological issues, promoting mental well-being.

As a certified doula, I bring specialized knowledge in supporting individuals
through major life transitions, including childbirth, with a focus on physical
comfort and emotional support. This combination allows for an integrative and empathetic approach to care, addressing the full spectrum of a person’s needs during the maternal journey of a pregnant mother before and after giving birth.

  • Tiana Thomas is a compassionate accomplished professional whose personal journey has profoundly shaped her dedication to supporting individuals and families through life’s most significant transitions. Following the heart-wrenching loss of her son at 2.5 months old, Tiana found her calling in providing comfort and guidance to others navigating similar paths of grief and new beginnings.

  • Driven by her life experience, Tiana became a certified end-of-life doula and planner, offering empathetic care and practical assistance to those facing their final days, ensuring dignity and personalized support for both the dying and their loved ones. Her understanding of life through loss also led her to become a certified birth doula, assisting expectant mothers with physical, emotional, informational support, and advocacy throughout pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period.

  • Recognizing a critical need from her own experience, Tiana founded Sacred Chrysalis Perinatal Loss and Bereavement Services, a newly formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization specializing in perinatal loss and bereavement services. Through this initiative, she works tirelessly to develop comprehensive support programs and services for mothers experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, and infant loss, including counseling, funeral/burial assistance, support groups, memory-making activities, and educational resources for both families and healthcare providers.

  • Tiana’s unique blend of personal experience and professional expertise allows her to approach her work with exceptional empathy and insight. Her commitment to continuous learning is evident in her regular attendance at professional development workshops and conferences in maternal health, palliative care, and grief counseling.

  • Under Tiana’s leadership, Sacred Chrysalis is rapidly establishing itself as a vital community resource. Local health and community organizations have recognized her work, and she frequently collaborates with these organizations to improve bereavement care standards.

  • Through her work, Tiana honors the memory of her son by creating a legacy of compassion, understanding, and support for families navigating the complex emotions surrounding birth, loss, and end-of-life care.
